A GOOD NATURAL SOURCE OF VITAMINS

High in vitamins C, K, A, and E, blackberries are also a good source of folic acid. Vitamin A promotes eyesight; vitamin C is an immune system booster; vitamin E acts as an antioxidant and counters the effects of free radicals; and vitamin K helps the body regulate calcium and assists blood clotting.

A NATURAL SOURCE OF IRON

A serving of blackberries (100 grams) provides 10% of the recommended daily intake of iron. Iron is needed for the production of hemoglobin, and it also helps build healthy muscles.

A SOURCE OF DIETARY FIBER

In Spanish, the blackberry or mora, is also known as zarzamora, zarza, morera and moral. They are one of the most common berries and they can be easily found in the wild. Blackberries are believed to have originated in Europe and Asia. In Colombia they are grown 4,000 to 11,000 feet above sea level. Did you know blackberries are an aggregate fruit? They are made up of individual drupes that form the berry. Blackberries are first green to greenish-white in color; they then ripen into a bright reddish hue, and finally mature into a dark, intense purple color. There are pure and hybrid varieties that come with and without thorns.
