Our production process starts at the farm level, where we make sure Good Agricultural Practices are followed each step of the way. This is just one of the reasons our fruits are certified by the GLOBALG.A.P. standards. Among other things, this seal certifies that:
- No contaminated waters are used to irrigate fields.
- Pesticide levels are kept at a minimum and they are only used when absolutely necessary. If we’re forced to use pesticides, we make sure we use exactly the recommended dose and in the correct harvest interval (the time from spraying to harvest) in order to guarantee EU-approved residue limits.
- The required infrastructure is in place for the type of production and harvesting being carried out. This includes bathrooms, sealed areas to keep chemicals, and clean postharvest facilities.
Post-harvest, our products are sent to our IFS Food Certified packing house in Chía, a town located about 1 hour north of Bogotá. More demanding than Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP), the IFS standard guarantees full and accurate traceability of all fruits and vegetables, sustainable use of water, electricity and gas, and close supervision of all of our fruit and packaging suppliers. Most importantly, this standard guarantees high food safety standards by preventing and monitoring biological contaminants (harmful bacteria and fungi), as well as other potential hazards.
